After positive tests in Spain and also at Snetterton we knew we would be coming here with good pace, but the weather yesterday really threw us. It was the first time we’ve ridden the Mar-Train Yamaha in the wet and we didn’t want to take any chances and ruin our championship. Even though we didn’t qualify too well it was just a matter of damage limitation, so third place we were happy with.
Today I knew it would be a dogfight as it always is at Brands Indy in this class. I sat back and watched for a while but at half distance I could see the Triumphs were starting to lose a little rear grip. It’s tight in this class and there was a bit of a rub when I made the pass at Paddock Hill but there was nothing malicious. After that I just watched my boards and it was quite comfortable. The Mar-Train Yamaha worked superbly well and I’m delighted to be leaving Brands leading the championship for the whole team.
